INTER LIGHT FORUM - Light Culture Forum

Lighting in Japan has long been discussed only in field of technology.
It has now gained a new concept, and the role of lighting design has never been this broad. Beyond the limit of urban lighting, it is a field full of possibilities, affecting many scenes of our everyday life.
On the other hand, during the Persian Gulf War, urban scenic lighting "light-up" on which we have been making effort to popularize over ten years, was regarded as waste of energy in Japan. Many cases of light-up such as Yokohama Bay Bridge were turned off the light or cut the light-up time short, which proved that people's
interest in light was only a superficial phenomenon.
Concerning these circumstances, Inter Light Forum was established in 1991 to carry out academic and practical activities to develop and popularize culture of light.
Main Activities: regular forum, yearly symposium "Visual Symposium"
issue of biannual News Letter, seminar, research, and overseas activities in order to exchange and develop ideas of light culture by many people between inter discipline.
